Greenway Golf presents our popular ON THE GREEN SUMMER CAMP 2023 program, to directly engage underserved East Bay youth through access to the outdoors and sports. In partnership with Soccer Without Borders and established regional non-profits, this innovative program reimagines golf—and golf course space—to provide inclusive, positive opportunities for growth and development for youth who need them the most.
Why We Do It
THE POWER OF SPORTS + ACCESS TO SPACE = OPPORTUNITY
Broaden access to the vital benefits of green space.
In the 100 largest U.S. cities: residents of low-income neighborhoods have access to 42% less park space per capita than residents of high-income neighborhoods.
Expose as many kids as possible to the sport we love.
Nationally, only 35% of junior golfers are female and only 23% are youth of color. The vast majority come from high-income groups.
Create a safe & enriching environment for growth.
Youth & young adults who face opportunity gaps are 55% less likely than their peers to skip school when they receive mentorship and 130% more likely to hold leadership positions.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH
SOLVE FOR BARRIERS THAT EXCLUDE UNDERSERVED YOUTH FROM OUTDOOR RECREATION
All programming including meals, round-trip transportation and equipment are provided at no cost.
GROW THE GAME
FORGE PARTNERSHIPS THAT GET TO THE HEART OF ADVANCING REPRESENTATION
Campers and counselors come from widely-respected nonprofits that work directly with underrepresented communities to ensure that we are reaching a diverse base of young people who otherwise would not have access to golf or job opportunities in the industry.
MENTORSHIP
NURTURE THE WHOLE PERSON-NOT JUST THE PLAYER
A robust training model and 3:1 camper to coach ratio equip our dedicated coaching team with the tools they need to foster meaningful relationships and inspire campers in their personal growth beyond learning the game. Life skills that come with golf-including resilience, decision-making and teamwork- are integrated into all activities.
PREPARE YOUNG PEOPLE FOR CAREERS
For our coaching team, we recruit Soccer Without Borders alumni as camp counselors and student-athletes as golf instructors. allowing us to expand social impact by providing income and valuable job training for young people. The professional development program provides a foundation for workplace skills and a springboard for future opportunity.
